Generating Account Credentials with Bitwarden¶
Generate and store account credentials with Bitwarden.
Note
This guide assumes you have the Bitwarden browser extension installed.
The Problem¶
Every other website you visit asks you to create an account, and all these accounts require usernames and passwords. This can be taxing to remember, and can wear down even the most robust pen or pencil. But fear not! With Bitwarden, generating and storing account information is straightforward and secure.
1. Access the Bitwarden Browser Extension¶
Click the Bitwarden browser extension icon, usually found in your bookmarks bar or near the upper-right corner of your browser window. If you don't see it, click the puzzle icon and select the Bitwarden icon from the menu.

2. Add a New Login¶
In the Bitwarden menu, click the New button.

Select Login from the dropdown.

3. Generate a Password¶
On the far-right of the password field, click the circular arrows.

Tip
You can have Bitwarden autofill your email/username by entering the
email/username you used to sign up in the Username field.
4. Customize Password Details¶
Adjust the password length as needed. The longer the password, the more secure it is.
Note
Some websites have a limit on password length, so check the signup page for specific instructions!
Make sure all character type options are checked to increase password strength.

After adjusting the options to your liking, click Use this password.
5. Save the Login¶
Click the Save button in the bottom-left corner.

6. Exit "View Login" Menu¶
Click the back arrow at the top-left of the extension.

7. Autofill Your Login Details¶
Find your newly created login under Autofill suggestions and click the
Fill button.
Tip
Instead of opening the Bitwarden browser extension and clicking the login item to autofill your password, press Ctrl+Shift+L on your keyboard!

You're all set!¶
Bitwarden will securely store your credentials for later use.
